Dr. Walk studies microbes of human importance. His lab has projects ranging from how pathogens circulate in hospitals to how microbial communities improve human health. He also studies how environmental factors influence human-microbe interactions and how host-associated microbes transition between hosts. His lab broadly develops and applies theories of microbial ecology and evolution to help improve human and animal health and decrease disease.
